For generations in Black and Brown communities, the church wasn't just a building; it was where we spent so much of our lives, our weekends, where we were told how to live, believe, and survive. But what happens when church is no longer something you want to be a part of your life? What happens when you realize that you don’t actually believe in what you were taught?
Project (De)Construction is a web series built for the saints, the sinners, the wanderers, the spiritually fluid, and the religiously curious. This is a space for raw, intentional conversations around religion, church, church culture, spirituality, and belief.
Across Season 1 and Season 2, I sit down with Black and Brown Millennials and Gen Zers to look directly at our upbringings, unpack the impact of traditional church culture, and talk about what faith, spirituality, religion, doubt, and moving forward look like for us right now.
We are amplifying the voices, the questions, and the nuances that mainstream religious spaces are too afraid to hold.
